چکیده
In this paper a performance analysis of the CRMA medium access protocol is presented The CRMA Cyclic Reservation Multiple Access scheme is proposed as an access mechanism for high speed LANs and MANs An approximate computational method is derived to obtain the distribution functions of performance measures of interest like the medium access delay and the packet transfer time The analysis is done using a decomposition approach for the access delay in conjunction with a G G queue with feedback and a M G queue with server vacation observed in discrete time domain The reservation cancelation backpressure mechanism is also taken into account in the model Numerical results are obtained to investigate the e ciency of the backpressure scheme and the scaling issues of the interreserve interval under various load conditions and system con gurations Furthermore results addressing performance aspects like the fairness issues the jitter of maximum access delay and the system behavior under station wise saturated conditions are also discussed

Overload Performance of Media Access Protocols for Dual Bus High-Speed Metropolitan Area Networks
In this paper we evaluate some of the media access control (MAC) protocols for high-speed metropolitan area networks based on the dual bus architecture. These MAC protocols are the Distributed Queue Dual Bus (DQDB) family of protocols and the Cyclic Reservation Multiple Access (CRMA). We carry out several simulation experiments to compare the performance of DQDB family of protocols with the CRM...
متن کاملDesign of Arrayed Waveguide Grating based Optical Switch for High Speed Optical Networks
This paper demonstrates the design of an Arrayed Waveguide Gratings (AWG) based optical switch. In the design both physical and network layer analysis is performed. The physical layer power and noise analysis is done to obtain Bit Error Rate (BER). This has been found that at the higher bit rates, BER is not affected with number of buffer modules. Network layer analysis is done to obtain perfor...
متن کاملThe fairness issue in the CRMA-II MAC protocol
Simulation is used to investigate the behavior of the \global fairness" algorithms proposed for CRMA-II, a MAC protocol for very-high-speed networks devised by IBM for the local and metropolitan environments. Results indicate that too strictly enforcing global fairness may result in undesirable short-term and long-term behaviors. However, when we consider that guaranteeing global fairness is im...
متن کاملEvaluation of a BIBD Based Directional MAC Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...
متن کاملNeural Network Performance Analysis for Real Time Hand Gesture Tracking Based on Hu Moment and Hybrid Features
This paper presents a comparison study between the multilayer perceptron (MLP) and radial basis function (RBF) neural networks with supervised learning and back propagation algorithm to track hand gestures. Both networks have two output classes which are hand and face. Skin is detected by a regional based algorithm in the image, and then networks are applied on video sequences frame by frame in...
